"'Belt and Road' Land Corridor International Intermodal Research and Exchange Center" project is officially launched at Hong Guo Yuan Hotel on December 9th,2017. The project is led by Beijing Jiaotong University, and jointly declared by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, International Union of Rail ways, China Railway International Co., Ltd. and China Railway First Survey & Design Institute Group CO.,LTD. Professor Nie Lei, from the School of Traffic and Transportation, is the head of the project.
The opening ceremony was chaired by He Shiwei, vice dean of the School of Traffic and Transportation, Beijing Jiaotong University.
Guan Zhongliang, vice president of Beijing Jiaotong University, delivered a speech on behalf of Beijing Jiaotong University. He pointed out that Beijing Jiaotong University participated in and witnessed the historical process of the development of China's rail transportation, and made important contributions for the development of the national economy and society, especially for the comprehensive transportation system. In recent years, the university has paid great attention to the development and internationalization of scientific research subjects and will make good service and guarantee work for the project. At the same time, the university hoped that experts could work together to provide guidance for the project.
Huo Hongwei, deputy director of the exchange center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, gave a speech on behalf of the project authorities. He said that the project has important academic, practical and political significance. The Ministry of Science and Technology would provide support in project management, international cooperation and related talents, platforms and funds. And it would not only play a good role in management and supervision but also in service and guarantee for the development of the project.
Pakistan diplomat also gave a speech. He highly appraised the academic value and the significance of international cultural exchange of the project implementation. The academic and cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan has a long history. As "The Belt and Road "key countries along, Pakistan is willing to provide support and guarantee for the implementation of this project.
The meeting elected academician He Huawu chaired the experts committee of the project. Professor Kang Yi, chief engineer Zhou Wei as vice chairman of the experts committee. Vice President Guan Zhongliang issued a letter of appointment for the experts from expert committee of the project. Zhou Wei, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Transport, made a speech on behalf of expert committee of the project and put forward requirements and suggestions on the high quality promotion of the project.
The meeting of project implementation plan demonstration was hosted by academician He Huawu.
Professor Nie Lei, the director of the project, reported the project implementation plan. She elaborated the project background, research methods and contents, project implementation key node and specific implementation plan, project presentation form and testing method, project organization and management mechanism, task division, and expected achievement and risk analysis.
Ren Xiaochun, deputy director and deputy chief engineer of the Key Laboratory from China Railway First Survey & Design Institute Group CO.,LTD., and Yin Zhigang, director from China Railway International Co., Ltd., reported the implementation plan of their respective tasks.
Zhang Ying, vice dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University gave a speech through the internet.
The expert group agreed that the project could be implemented by consulting a full panel of experts. They believed that the project has great strategic significance, complete implementation plan, scientific roadmap, reasonable task division and practical assessment index. At the same time, the expert group also put forward opinions and suggestions for the content that needs to be further clarified and strengthened in the later stage of the project implementation. The convening of this meeting marked the official launch of the project of "'Belt and Road' Land Corridor International Intermodal Research and Exchange Center".
